University of Education - Lower Mall Campus Lahore

University of Education, Lower Mall Campus nestles in the heart of Lahore. a renowned place of learning and rich soil of civilization. Before becoming an idea of university, this institution of historicimportance came into being in 1880, bearing the name of Central Trainiing College and settled in the present building of lofty pillars, magnificent arches, elegant turrents carved doors and windows and spell binding skylight, 1887. It was renamed as Government College of Education for Men, Lower Mall Lahjore in 1976.It became a Constituent College of University of Education in September 2002 and was declared a Campus of the University in 2006.

It is a pioneer teaching institution in South Asia; unique in the sense that its faculty put their heart & soul to formulate the foundation principles of education System for Pakistan . Accomplished scholars & eminent educationist attended the first All Pakistan Education Conference held in Karachi (1947), where B.A Hashmi (Principal CTC) was nominated as secretary, Committee for revision of Curriculum & Syllabus. Sharif Commission, headed by Prof. S.M Sharif (principal CTC) contributed a remarkable report on Education that set guideline for Education in Pakistan .

Since its establishment this great place of learning has been producing a good lot for the prestigious profession of teaching. B.Ed, M.Ed, & M.A Education programs have remained its significant features, but after becoming a Campus of University of Education, certain new avenues have been opened to the goal oriented boys & girls. Today, it is the center of modern disciplines in education, focuses on enquiry & research. Classroom is business is activity based & the medium of instruction has been switched over to English. Students are being prepared to meet the present needs & future challenges though curricular & co-curricular activities. They enter to learn & leave the institution with new spirit to serve the nation following the path of Truth the Ultimate Virtue. The University of Education (UE) has been established on September 10 2002 by the Government of Punjab as a Center of Excellence in teacher Education & Research. As a public sector University, the University of Education focuses on the discipline of Education as the core knowledge area for continues improvement & up gradation of teacher education & teaching methodology-a prerequisite for socio economic development of the provincial & National economy. The University is committed to undertake quality research & innovative interventions in the teaching process at school & college level & striving hard to bring change in the classroom culture through its innovative & creative programmes. It is responsible for bringing qualitative improvement in educational teaching system, which could be ensured through skilled development of the future builders of the nation. Presently the university is offering multifarious graduate, postgraduate and PhD programmes in various disciplines.
